I have discovered that I like to do things that impact people. Even if it means that I have to go a bit beyond my own preferences and “limits” to do so. This is important to me.
I love creating music and music experiences. BUT I love them more when they are impactful in my community. When they are introducing music to folks in a new way. Or for the first time.

And, guess what? This stuff doesn’t just happen. It takes a lot of patience, work, time, and energy.
And, if you’ve ever experienced the non-profit life, it is not highly lucrative.
T Swift might be able to sell tickets for thousands of dollars and pay her drivers six figure bonuses.
I’m trying to put a show together to get the most bang for whatever bucks I can get my greedy fingers on.
But I want it to feel like a six figure show. I want the audience, the community, to feel like they are as important to me as Taylor’s fan club is to her.

Although - I truly believe that my audience is more important to me, or at least in a different way.
Anyway - at least I know why I do what I do. I think that helps.

I’m making an arrangement of the children’s song Apples and Bananas for Brass Quintet. It has been really fun so far, really kind of silly. I can’t share it today because I am running behind and, you know, I gotta keep up that streak. Next week, I promise!
